Kalv festival 2017 – the first artists are booked!

Kalv festival will this year increase its international profile with several guests from abroad. We can already reveal the major act: Manchester based Distractfold. A relatively new – but already internationally decorated – ensemble, whose emphasise resides in the borderline between chamber music and electronics. The ensemble’s line up is flexible and we will be welcoming four of its members to Kalv. It is a particular honour and joy to be able to invite theses young, amazing musicians, not only to Kalv, but also to Sweden for their first visit. And we can already now promise that also their repertoire will contain music that – for a Swedish audience – is seldom performed.

The invited quartet of Rocio Bolaños (clarinets), Linda Jankowska (violin), Emma Richards (viola) and Alice Purton (cello) will function – throughout the festival – as an ensemble-in-residence in different constellations. They will open the festival Friday the 11th of August at 19.00 in the Kalv church, on Saturday they will be performing mini-concerts in an experimental setting at the old Kalv school building. On Sunday they will be closing the festival, once again at the church, with solo works.

The ensemble will also be present during the better part of the week, rehearsing ahead of their concerts.

The project is supported by Statens Musikverk.
