Kalv is a small village with almost 300 inhabitants in the border area between Västergötland, Småland and Halland, about 100 km southeast of Gothenburg. Once upon a time, this was the border with Denmark and important routes between Sweden and the continent.
Kalv have a breathtaking nature with open agricultural landscapes, lakes and streams, extensive forests rich in wildlife, vast moss fields and elements of beech forests. It is a village for nature experiences with a pilgrimage route, canoe rental with campsites, several places for overnight stays and refreshments.
The people in Kalv are used to taking joint responsibility for the area. In the 90s, Kalv through its village team was appointed by the Glesbygdsdelegationen and the campaign Hela Sverige ska leva as one of three “Future Villages” in the country with projects for sparsely populated areas. Kalv is now one of 9 villages in the organization Trivselbygden, which supports entrepreneurship and collaboration.
