Program announcement 2022!
Kalvfestivalen opens its sounding doors again!
We look to the future by also remembering the past – from Hildegard by Bingen’s more than 1000-year-old music to premieres that dream of unknown future (sound)worlds.
We welcome ensembles and musicians from Switzerland (Soyuz21 and Klaus Lang), Italy (Marco Fusi and Pierluigi Billone), Germany (Christina Meißner), Norway (Sergej Tchirkov) and Sweden (Varbergs Kammarkör, Johannes Landgren and Gageego!). We provide the space for concerts, talks, children’s activities, sound essay walks and seminars.
This year we announce Utopica Futura! Utopica as its etymological, no-place, as an echo of the music we have given space to for so many years, the not yet known, but which is part of shaping our world. Sometimes now, sometimes as so often is for art – in the future, futura!
On Thursday, the festival will be inaugurated at 19.00 in Kalvs Kyrka by cellist Christina Meißner and the same evening we wait for the sunset in Klaus Lang’s meditative “Bright Darkness” with Soyuz21. Friday continues with music meditation, seminars, Soyuz21 and a late night with music for accordion in Kalvs bygdegård.
As a prelude and introduction to this year’s festivities, we also invite you to a pre-festival, 8-10 August. Come to Kalv already before the festival for talks, small concerts, mantras and medieval dances! And not least: witness how Kalv slowly begins to resound from all its different corners.
During the time leading up to the festival, you will slowly get to know our invited musicians and the music that will ring this year, but until then we will be lured by performances of music by, among others, Hildegard by Bingen, Luigi Nono, Klaus Lang, Anna Korsun, Lisa Streich, Pierluigi Billone, Eva-Maria Houben and not least, the festival’s end point where we premiere Max Käcks, Kindaholmsparafrasen.
A warm welcome!
