Last year\u2019s new addition, the composition academy, is given new life while another new initiative is being presented: a workshop in music journalism. <strong>The length of the festival is extended from 3 to 4 days<\/strong>, and here a vast international outlook will stand side by side with local cultural activities.<\/p>\n<p>We are welcomed by the Austrian quartet\u00a0<strong>airborne extended<\/strong>, the violin virtuosos\u00a0<strong>Marco Fusi<\/strong> and <strong>Winnie Huang<\/strong>, the west coast ensemble\u00a0<strong>Mimitabu<\/strong>, the jubilee trio\u00a0<strong>Elkj\u00e4r\/Stern\/Christensson<\/strong>\u00a0and a group of local poets. The Kalv festival also welcomes the teachers for the composition academy\u00a0<strong>Malin B\u00e5ng<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Klaus Lang<\/strong>, the 8 selected student-composers, the teacher for the music journalism workshop\u00a0<strong>Andreas Engstr\u00f6m<\/strong>\u00a0and the 7 workshop participants!<\/p>\n<p>The activity in the village will be high over the course of a week\u2019s time when the composition academy fills Kalv with composers, musicians and teachers from Sunday, August 4. Just like last year, the festival\u2019s activities will revolve around the old school building and the church, where open seminars and rehearsals will take place. For those interested, there is thus an opportunity to gain insight into the composers\u2019 compositional processes, while at the same time following the emergence of the works during the rehearsals!<\/p>\n<p><strong>This year\u2019s festival starts Thursday, August 8<\/strong>, at 20:00 when\u00a0airborne extended\u00a0gives the first of their two concerts. The evening continues with an exclusive organ concert with the composer and organist\u00a0Klaus Lang, where renaissance and baroque works are placed side by side with his own music.
